eXept Software AG from Bönnigheim near Stuttgart/Germany specializes in test automation, quality management
and customized software solutions. The company was founded in 1996 with the goal to develop the highest-
quality software solutions for complex tasks based on our in-house development platform Smalltalk/X. We have
developed successful solutions in a wide range of industries, including finance, automotive applications,
telecommunications and mechanical engineering. Even though the projects are very different, they all have
one thing in common – they place the highest demands on software quality in terms of availability, security and
maintainability. To meet the quality requirements, an innovative, effective test development tool emerged from practical
project work. This marked the arrival of expecco, the Graphical Test-Modeling tool that is as easy to use as a
