rapid prototyping
eXept Building
Many of our customers benefit from our know-how in rapid prototyping. Especially when complex projects are to be realized, you need well founded information on critical pathes and functions of an application. Especially when done early in the project development cycle, this helps to identify possible trouble spots both in implementation effort and in expected performance. It also allows functional and user acceptance tests to be performed much earlier and thereby helps to circumvent useless dead-end developments.
expecco in operation
Alcatel-Lucent
Alcatel Lucent uses expecco for test automationAlcatel Lucent is one of the world’s biggest technology companies in the field of telecommunications, with more than 75,000 employees. One of the most successful products in its Optics division is the 1678 MCC cross-connect. These systems are a key element in the global data network and ensure smooth data transfer for telephony and the Internet, for example.

1678 MCC places the highest demands on quality and failsafe operation. The test automation was a major challenge due to the large number of variants and the product’s complexity.

Prior to customer delivery, the optical CrossConnect of the telecom supplier is made subject to a strict quality control procedure. First, the functionality of individual components (e.g. modules) is tested in special testing stations. After that, the respective individual components are assembled into the actual system that was ordered by the customer, which is then tested in a defined procedure. The system test is used as the final acceptance procedure prior to delivery and it ensures the overall functionality requested by the customer. The objective was to automate the manual system test as much as possible.

Automotive Component Tests This example showcases the implementation of expecco in the automotive sector. The project involved the realization of the plug-in for the interface to the Optolyzer from eXept Software AG. All other connections to the DUT (Device Under Test) were developed in-house by the customer with help of the interface plug-ins that already exist in expecco.

... from manual to mode-based test develpmentThe Infoman GmbH was founded in 1998 as a spinoff of Fraunhofer-Institut IAO in Stuttgart.

Since 2007, Industrial Learning Solutions are implemented, most of them as web applications/portals. In the beginning, the attention level of the testing during the conception phase of the development was very low.

The specification effort for a possible standardized testing process was high. Tool support was only resorted selectively. The test scenarios were incomplete very often, which lead to ad hoc testing that was conducted with an insufficient documentation. Once a defect was detected, the test had to be repeated, which was very costly.
