How expecco works:

No. 2 – Dynamic update of test sequences.

expecco supports the dynamic import of information at runtime. Based on this information, this mechanism can be used to create new test components fully automatically or to update existing ones. Existing test sequences can be automatically adapted to changes to the system under test and prepared for extensions for new / expanded test cases.

For example, this mechanism is used by our customers in the following application examples:

  • WSDL import:
When importing a WSDL description into expecco, access components are created for communication with the web service which are used for communication in the test cases. If the service changes, the updated WSDL can be imported into expecco again. Then the existing blocks are updated based on the new description, new functionality is added and no longer existing ones are removed. The existing test cases will be automatically updated via the block interface.
  • Generation of access components to a dynamic object model in Java.
An object model in Java, which is generated from a model description when the system under test changes, serves expecco as a source for generating the necessary test components.
The description for the interface of the relevant Java classes is read by expecco and with this information new access modules can be created. Changes and extensions are processed by expecco during the WSDL import and passed on to the existing test cases.
  • Dynamic creation of test sequences from excel / Python / ...
Via an import interface for different formats sequences can be generated at runtime and are directly executable.
In addition, processes can be generated automatically at execution time, which are defined and maintained in other systems.
