Release 26.2: Planned features at a glance

Even after 26.1, things are set to remain exciting at expecco – here’s a first look at what’s planned for Release 26.2 in the fourth quarter of 2026.

AI integration is set to become even more practical: with the new ‘Claude Code (subscription)’ provider, the AI Coding Plugin can in future be used directly via your own Claude subscription – without the need for an API key and without per-token costs, simply via the locally installed Claude Code command line. In addition, there are two new class-level AI actions: ‘Explain Class’ explains an entire class, including instance variables and protocols, whilst ‘Generate Class Documentation’ produces suitable documentation ready for direct use.

New language bridges: Action blocks for bridged Scheme (Racket), Octave/Matlab and C# expand the range of supported languages.

Server & Network: The embedded web server now supports HTTP/2 (negotiated via TLS-ALPN, implemented in pure Smalltalk); there is also full IPv6 UDP support, including multicast.

Team & ALM integration: A new version tree displays ALM repository versions directly within the project tree, and a new TEAM feature enables multiple users to edit a suite collaboratively in real time – including merging and simple committing.

SNMP completely re-implemented: The SNMP blocks no longer require the external net-snmp library (v1, v2c, v3 with MD5/SHA-1 and DES/AES-128), behave identically across platforms and come with the latest MIB modules included. Incidentally, a persistent bug relating to SNMP object IDs on 64-bit systems has also been fixed.
