Release 26.1: A brief overview

With Release 26.1 (Q2 2026), we’re introducing a range of exciting new features – foremost among them the new AI Coding Plugin: it integrates chat assistants such as Anthropic Claude, OpenAI ChatGPT and ollama directly into the Activity Editor and Class Browser. Via the menu, you can have code explained, receive suggestions for improvements, generate tests, create documentation comments or find bugs – suggestions can be applied with a single click. Providers and API keys can be conveniently managed via the Settings.

Further highlights:

  • Security: Security: SSL 1.3 support, SSL for C, Python, Node.js, Ruby, Dart and Smalltalk bridges, integrated SSH/SFTP, and easy key pair generation via the FileBrowser. AIDYMO and the licence server now also support optional HTTPS.
  • Number Stack: Extended multi-precision numbers, Float32 support, exponential notation and type-specific Inf/NaN values.
  • Workflow Editor: Connections now bypass blocks and Freeze Values cleanly, plus an improved auto-layout for clearer diagrams.
  • Performance: Noticeable speed improvements when loading ETS/ELF files (30–40 per cent) and test result archives with large logs (approximately one-third faster).
  • Miscellaneous: Qt6.8 support, file transfer for all bridges, numerous DPI scaling fixes and an automatic fix for bloated .ets files.

Release 26.1 thus delivers both productive AI support and noticeable improvements in security, performance and ease of use.
